Washington State’s Luke Falk passed for 505 yards and five touchdowns and guided the Cougars to a 45-38 double-overtime over the Ducks.
Falk led the Cougars to 10 unanswered points to tie the game at the end of regulation, and continued to expose Oregon’s secondary in overtime, resulting in the Cougars’ third win of the season.
Jeff Lockie started at quarterback, but continued to struggle to find any sort of rhythm. The redshirt junior completed just 13 passes for 123 yards, and was picked off on Oregon’s last possession of the game.
Key plays
– Midway through the third quarter, the Oregon defense racked up three straight sacks to force a crucial three-and-out with the Cougars holding 21-17 lead.
– Around the five-minute mark in the third quarter, back up running back Taj Griffin bursted out of the backfield for a 43-yard run. This was capped off with a 17-yard touchdown connection between Jeff Lockie and Royce Freeman to give Oregon a slim 24-21 edge.
– With about two minutes to go in the third quarter, Freeman hit the gap and broke a tackle en route to a career-best 49-yard run. He later capped off the drive with his second rushing touchdown from one-yard out, giving Oregon a 31-21 lead.
– Luke Falk finds Dom Williams in the corner of the end zone for a 8-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 31 with one second remaining in regulation.
– On the first possession of of overtime, Lockie completes a pass to Bralon Addison for a nine-yard touchdown to take a 38-31 lead.
