Joan Jett & The Blackhearts will play the opening day of the 2015 Lane County Fair this Wednesday to start off the fair’s concert series, which will feature Sugar Ray, Better than Ezra and country singer Brett Eldredge.
It will also feature pig racing and a woman crushing apples with her biceps.
When is the fair?
The fair takes place from July 22-26 at the Lane County Fairgrounds. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m Wednesday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
How much are tickets?
Well, that depends on what type of ticket you’re asking about.
– General fair admission tickets are $9 per adult, $7 for seniors (aged 65+), $6 for youth (6-12 years old) and children 5 and younger are free. A season pass for entry on all five days is $20.
A free pass is also accessible if you donate blood with Lane Blood Center any time before July 25. More information at www.laneblood.org.
– In order to enjoy one of the 35 rides offered at the county fair, you’ve got a few options. If you pre-purchase an unlimited ride bracelet online by Tuesday (July 21) at midnight, you can save $15. Otherwise, it’s $50 at the fair. Individual ride tickets are 50 cents a piece.*
*Rides are operated from Wednesday through Saturday until 10 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Sunday.
– Concert prices vary with each show, but are free with fair admission. Prices and showtimes can be found on the Lane County Fair website.
Here are some other features of this year’s fair:
- Brad’s World Reptiles, an interactive exhibit with reptiles, amphibians and other exotic creatures. The demonstration will be around each day during the fair’s open hours.
- All-Alaskan Racing Pigs, a team of eight pigs who race around a 100-foot sawdust-covered track. Three rounds of racing four hogs at time leads to a final showdown race to determine which pig is truly the fastest.
- Mind Surfin’: Rich and Marielle Aimes, a peppy pair of mentalists who hail from Las Vegas, host a variety show that combines theatre, magic, psychology and music.
- Mama Lou – Strong Woman: Mama Lou crushes apples with her biceps, punches nails into wood with her fists and tears phone books in half in this comedy show.
