Former University of Oregon women’s basketball standout Chrishae Rowe has enrolled at the University of Kentucky, the Wildcats’s head coach Matthew Mitchell announced Friday.
Rowe — who was named the Pac-12 freshman of the year last season — was dismissed for a violation of team rules a few days before the team’s first exhibition game of the season.
As a Duck, Rowe led the team in scoring in 2013-2014 with 21.6 points per game. She set the Oregon record for most points scored in a game against Seattle University on Dec. 4 with 41.
“We are very excited to welcome Chrishae to Kentucky,” Mitchell told reporters Friday afternoon. “This will be a great opportunity for her to become the best player she can be. We have high hopes for her and we look forward to her coming into our program and working hard to help us achieve our goals.”
Rowe will be eligible to play in the 2015-2016 season. Per NCAA rules, she will be allowed to practice with Kentucky, but will not be able to play in games or travel to away games with the team.
She has three years of eligibility remaining.
The Corona, Calif. native was dismissed on Nov. 7 by first-year Oregon head coach Kelly Graves.
“Our mission is to create something great here at the University of Oregon and our players need to buy in to all aspects of that mission,” Graves said in the release. “Our team culture, long-term, is more important than wins and losses short-term.”
