Take a Minute is a daily post that will catch you up on Internet happenings on campus and around the world.
JR Smith is doing his absolute best to distract me from writing this post, but I’m soldiering on. Anyway, so…damn it, not you too Joakim Noah!
Weird NBA players aside, it’s a busy and joyous time in the sports world. Sure, the (very underwhelming) NCAA men’s basketball tournament just ended, but you can still watch real basketball as the NBA enters its stretch run, soccer and hockey are still going strong for those so inclined to watch, and Major League Baseball kicks off its season tonight. If nothing else, I know Nolan Ryan is excited:
And, of course, Oregon’s spring football practices have begun! In accordance with the season, it’s the time for dreams to become reality, for young players to prove their worth under the blistering gaze of one Chip Kelly. Of course, star defensive line recruit Arik Armstead has other problems:
Got to buy some supplies to clean this nasty bathroom smh
— Arik Armstead (@arikarmstead) April 3, 2012
Poor Arik. He hasn’t even been on campus for a week, and the Barnhart bathrooms are already failing him. We’ll be monitoring Twitter closely for further updates. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ball, wide receiver Rahsaan Vaughn was really enjoying Monday’s sunshine:
I can get use to nice days in Eugene — Rahsaan Vaughn (@RahsaanV10) April 3, 2012
So…who’s going to tell Rahsaan that Monday was just the Eugene weather gods teasing us for the umpteenth time? Because the ten-day forecast is…not promising.
Finally, Lavasier Tuinei pretty much sums up how we’re all feeling this week:
I’m going going back to back to Oregon Oregon! Damn SMH! #School
— Lavasier T. Tuinei (@LavasierTuinei) April 3, 2012
Amen, LT. Basically, we are all Toronto Raptors mascot this week:
Moving on, we’d be remiss not to point out that Baylor women’s basketball team capped a perfect 40-0 season on Tuesday night with an 80-61 victory over Notre Dame. Impressive.
Heisman-winning Baylor alum and soon-to-be-Washington-Redskin-POW Robert Griffin III was on hand for the win, just dancing the night away:
You’re an awesome football player, Robert, and you seem like a pretty cool guy. But please, for your own sake, never ever do that again.
Sports Photo of the Week (Part 1):
Yep, this is totally the right guy to clean up the Saints’ bounty hunter image. Great idea, Saints! (Photo courtesy of Sports Illustrated’s excellent photo blog).

Sports Video of the Week:
Hey, you know the only thing that could make this Portland Trail Blazer season better (aside from Raymond Felton throwing caution to the wind and just eating the basketball instead of turning it over)? Luke Babbitt highlight video!
You’re welcome.
