Take a Minute is a daily post that will catch you up on Internet happenings on campus and around the world.
Oregon swelled with state pride this week when Matt Groening said in an interview that the Simpsons’ home town was based on Eugene’s neighbor, Springfield. The announcement prompted this tweet from a surprisingly twitter-fluent Homer Simpson:
Crap, we live in Oregon?I mean, Go Ducks!
— Homer J. Simpson (@HomerJSimpson) April 11, 2012
In a stunning reversal, Groening said today that Oregon’s Springfield was in fact NOT the Springfield of the long-running television show. Quit playing with our hearts like that Matt. The Register’s Guard’s all-caps headline looks pretty silly in light of the latest news.
While doing some digging about this incredibly important news I found something surprising, Springfield has a museum! It’s filled mostly with Simpsons swag so definitely worth a visit.
