Statement from ASUO Constitution Court, on phishing allegations against Katie and Alex:
To Whom It May Concern:
On April 8, 2012, the ASUO Constitution Court received two elections complaints alleging egregious misconduct by members of the Katie and Alex campaign. The first complaint was submitted by Sam Dotters-Katz. The second complaint was submitted by Sophie Luthin, on behalf of the Ben and Lamar campaign. While the Court has discretionary jurisdiction to entertain both of these claim, pursuant to Elections Rule 6.4(b), it is the opinion of the Constitution Court that these matters are best left to the ASUO Elections Board for adjudication.
It is the further opinion of the Constitution Court that both of the petitioner’s claims remain unproven until the Respondents have the opportunity to respond to the allegations and the Elections Board investigates these allegations. Consequently, the Election scheduled to begin tomorrow morning ought to proceed as planned until the ASUO Elections Board has issued its rulings on these claims. However, the Court asserts its authority to retain appellate jurisdiction over the rulings of the ASUO Elections Board.
