Have you ever gone to a show where the artist was getting a lot of hype and then failed to deliver? Well, this wasn’t one of those shows, and quite frankly, it was almost better live than its studio counterparts.
Curren$y and “the Jets”@@http://www.currensyspitta.com/stonedimmaculate@@ made a special landing in Eugene Tuesday night when the WOW Hall hosted the New Orleans rapper @@http://www.ticketmaster.com/Curreny-tickets/artist/1466394@@and his Jet Life clique.
Most of Curren$y’s crew, which includes Young Roddy, Trademark, Corner Boy P, Fiend 4 Da Money, Smoke DZA and Styles P@@checked all these, I promise@@, returned to Eugene for the 2012 Jet Life Tour as he prepares for his upcoming album, “The Stoned Immaculate,” which will be released June 5.
Curren$y took the stage after dynamic sets from each of the Jets, excluding Corner Boy P and Smoke DZA who were both unable to attend. His set was comprised of a lot of his older tracks with a sprinkling of what’s to come with his new Stoned Immaculate project.
The Jet Life rapper’s laid-back rhymes were supported by funky bass lines, spacey melodies and witty hooks that got the whole crowd chanting. In particular, he played a number of songs from his albums “Pilot Talk I” and “II.” The crowd got especially hyped for a live rendition of his tune “Michael Knight.”
Curren$y brought the Jets back out to perform songs with each before finishing up his set. The crew showed the crowd love by repeatedly dropping down offstage to stand side-by-side with fans. The clique was also giving away free products to the crowd from RAW rolling papers, who is helping to sponsor the tour.@@http://www.rawthentic.com/@@
“It was a diverse show with Spitta doing songs as far back as ‘This Ain’t No Mixtape’ to his newest stuff,” WOW Hall promotions intern Chris Graziani said. “He made sure to keep the crowd engaged with giveaways every so often.”
