The Duck Store announced Tuesday that General Manager Jim Williams, who has served as the chain’s leader for more than 36 years, will retire from his position this June.
Williams is only the third general manager to retire in the last 92 years, and during his tenure saw the business expand to seven locations across the state, including Portland and Bend as well as the Eugene area.
“I am excited about the future of our organization. It is my opinion we have the best senior team in the college store industry,” Williams said in a press release. “The leadership of the Duck Store will continue to make sure we adapt appropriately with the changing times … the future is indeed bright.”
The Duck Store Board of Directors announced last week that Arlyn Schaufler will succeed Williams this June as general manager. Schaufler has more than 30 years of experience working for the business, and in the past has served as the main floor cashier supervisor, the electronics department manager and the team leader of merchandise.
Schaufler holds a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from the University.
