The name of every fallen veteran from Iraq and Afghanistan will be read at the EMU amphitheater for about nine hours today.
The Nontraditional Student Programs compiled a list of the 6,625 fallen U.S. veterans. Partnered with the Veteran Family Association and the Dog Tags to Ducks program, volunteers will be reading the names from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The name-reading comes as part of a series of events to honor veterans for Veterans Awareness Week. @@http://uodos.uoregon.edu/SupportandEducation/NontraditionalStudents/tabid/60/Default.aspx@@
“We’re hoping these events will help the school better suit student veterans’ needs, many of whom have PTSD and are trying to make a transition into becoming a student,” said Gretchen Jewett, director of Nontraditional and Veteran Education and Support. @@http://uodos.uoregon.edu/SupportandEducation/StudentVeterans/VeteranFriendlyListeners/VFLDirectory/VFLStudentLifeBiographies/tabid/179/Default.aspx@@
