Russell Gene Crummett, 49, was arrested Thursday on charges of seven counts of sexual abuse in the first degree, six counts of sodomy in the first degree and four counts of unlawful sexual penetration in the first degree, according to a Eugene Police Department report and Lane County Adult Corrections.
Crummett, who works for the University of Oregon as a complex facilities manager, is being accused of sexually abusing “at least three girls, between the ages of six and 12,” a press release said. During his arraignment on Friday, Nov. 2, he entered a plea of not guilty, according to the district attorney’s office. His next trial date will be Dec. 10.
According to a UO press release, none of Crummett’s alleged activities occurred on or involved campus in any way. He has also been placed on administrative leave.
“Investigators have found no indication that the suspect … committed any crimes at the University of Oregon or involved anyone connected to the UO,” the university press release said. “While the individual did have access to College of Education facilities, his position did not include interaction with children.”
Investigators are worried about the possibility there could be more victims.
He is currently being held at the Lane County Jail.
