Despite remaining in second place in both human components of the Bowl Championship Series and throttling Arizona State on Thursday night, Chip Kelly’s Ducks continued to underwhelm the BCS computers. The Ducks dropped from third to fourth, falling behind Kansas State after the Wildcats easily beat West Virginia last weekend.
With games against USC and Oregon State — both ranked in the top 10 in the BCS — still on the schedule, the Ducks have the potential to impress the computers and move up in the rankings. With Florida and Alabama on a crash course to meet in the SEC title game, it remains likely that if the Ducks finish 13-0, they’ll find themselves playing for a national title.
At the same time, a loss in any of the Ducks’ remaining games can make that all irrelevant.
