When Portlanders heard that the Real World was taking over our town, we all wondered, aren’t we a little too classy to house these people? Won’t our microbreweries and hipster bars bore ex-Hooters girls and V-neck-donning dudes? Turns out, there are still a few places in Portland (particularly the Chinatown area) that can be fun for the ratchet crowd. If you want to make a guest appearance on the show, you can either stalk them at their Pearl District apartment, or you can try hooking up with one of the cast members or starting a fight outside of one of the following bars:
Holocene — Nominated for “Best Megaclub” for Paper Magazine, Holocene still stays true to Portland’s indie roots while showing everyone a good time. Serving as both a concert venue and a dance club, alternative favorites like Best Coast, Ratatat and Dan Deacon have performed here.@@nameschecked@@ To truly get a vibe of Portland culture — a microbrewery, the East side, and a laid-back crowd — this is the place where the cast should frequent.@@http://www.holocene.org/@@
Dirty — Its website advertises 35 stripper poles and two swings in addition to the tagline, “Lowering our standards for you!” Needless to say, the name fits and we know that the cast would definitely have some fun here. The club is filled with a variety of colored lights and geometric furniture in attempts to be hip, but it really looks like the kid’s club inside of a cruise ship.@@http://www.dirtynightclub.com/@@
The Crown Room — With their .net domain, the Crown Room keeps things spicy by staying open every night besides Sunday, and having special music nights — Tuesdays have dubstep, Fridays with “underground” music and bumping hip-hop on Saturdays. With only a $5 cover fee and a random crowd, it’s worth checking out — you’ll never know who’ll be there.@@http://thecrownroom.net/@@
