The Pac-12 unveiled their weekly volleyball conference honors, and this week is all cardinal and gold.
Freshman outside hitter Samantha Bricio has been dominant for USC all year long, and this year she became the first freshman in history to hold the Offensive Player of the Week award and Freshman of the Week award at the same time. The conference announced Bricio, a native of Guadalajara, Mexico, is also the first freshman since 2009 to win a nonfreshman weekly honor.
Fellow Woman of Troy Natalie Hagglund scooped up the Defensive Player of the Week award after posting 32 digs — a conference season high — in a 3-1 win over Arizona State.
The Ducks dumped then-No. 2 USC back on Sept. 21 in the teams’ only matchup of the season.
After suffering their first loss of the year on Friday to Stanford, Oregon looks to bounce back against Washington State this Friday.
By the bye. Oregon football rests this week, one weekend before traveling to Tempe, Ariz., to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils. Coaches will hit the road to woo potential recruits, while players will be given time off to spend with friends and family.
Media availability returns Saturday, Oct. 13.
The Ducks are 3-0 coming off of a regular-season bye week under head coach Chip Kelly. Following last year’s week off, Oregon dismantled California 43-15 at Autzen Stadium.
