Oregon women’s basketball got off to a good start last night, dominating 118-74 win in their first exhibition game against Southern Oregon at Matthew Knight Arena.
It was a group effort as four players had double-doubles, including senior guard Laura Stanulis who had 18 assists to go with her 10 rebounds and six points. Sophomore Lexi Peterson put up a game-high 27 points while Amanda Delgado had 22 of her own.
Although this was an exhibition game against a lowly opponent, the Ducks showed chemistry by sharing the ball and made it clear their team is full of weapons.
Their next exhibition game will be Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. Matthew Knight Arena where they will take on Corban University.
Oregon rocks Corban. Ducks softball completed its fall slate yesterday in a double-header, also against Corban, winning 11-1 and 7-1. With the sweep,the Ducks end fall ball at 6-0.
Cheridan Hawkings took the mound for the first game for five innings of three hit baseball, an effort that included six K’s.
Outfielder Samantha Pappas also chipped in, going 3-3 with a three-run homer.
In the second game, Pappas again was dangerous, going 2-3 with two doubles.
Jessica Moore was on the mound for seven innings where she struck out 10, allowing a hit and a walk.
Ducks softball is off until February when they will head to Arizona to play in the Kajikawa Classic.

Oregon men’s basketball will play its second exhibition game tonight when they take on Southwestern Oklahoma State. Head coach Dana Altman has higher expectations going into his third season.
The Portland Trailblazers will start their season tonight against the Los Angeles Lakers, who lost last night to the Mavericks 99-91. Expectations for the season are low due to lack of experience on the team, but an early win would prove to be inspiration for the young players.
