After four straight night games, Oregon football finally gets a break.
Kickoff for the Ducks’ Oct. 27 match-up with the Colorado Buffaloes is slated for noon, according to a release from the athletic department Monday night.
The news is sure to be welcomed by head coach Chip Kelly, who has routinely aired his frustration with playing in the evening.
“As a coach, you’ve got to sit around all day,” Kelly said in late September. “You want to wake up Saturday morning, get some eggs in you and go play football.”
It will be just the second Oregon game this season to start before 1 p.m.
The Pac-12 Networks will be on hand at Autzen Stadium to televise the game.
Oregon soccer earns nods, but loses out to California schools. Despite double the Ducks earning nominations for Pac-12 Player of the Week in women’s soccer, it was UCLA forward Rosie White and California goalkeeper Emily Kruger who walked away with this week’s POW awards.
Freshman midfielder Kira Wagoner and senior defender Lauren Thompson were the two Oregon players up for the accolade.
Wagoner scored her first career goal in Friday’s 3-1 loss to Utah.
In cheerier news, freshmen Kristen Parr and Mariah Powers were both named to TopDrawerSoccer.com’s Midseason Freshmen top 100 list. No. 52 Powers has played in all 15 games this year as a defender, while the forward Parr, ranked No. 74, leads the Ducks in scoring with seven goals.
