There’s no reason to have a boring beer pong table when you can make it interesting instead. So, go to your local hardware store and buy the cheapest plywood they have. There’s no reason to spend a lot, especially if you’re going to paint it.
Before going, figure out how big the table will be because they’ll cut it for you at the store. Standard tables are 8’x2’, but no one actually makes them that size. My table size was determined by what would fit in my car and apartment, so it’s 5’x3’. If you end up making a small table, just have your guests step back when they’re playing.
Since it’s football season, what better way to paint a table than to make it look like Autzen? Here’s how to make it happen:
1. Buy supplies
— plywood
— spray paint (white, yellow, two shades of green, and sealer)
— painters tape
— utility knife/scissors
— paper
2. Paint table white.
3. Wait for paint to dry and put tape around the edges of the table. Measure out where to put tape for the yard lines. Cut tape down the middle, then place at the measurements.
4. With whichever green you’re starting with, paint every other section.
5. Wait for it to dry and paint the other sections while covering up what’s already been painted.
6. I made Oregon/O stencils by tracing the letters off my computer. Once you do this, stencil the Oregon on each end zone, facing the center. Then, paint the O in the middle.
7. Wait for everything to dry, then spray sealer over the table.
8. Rage.
If football’s not your thing, here are a few more ideas:
Chalk board table
Signatures of players
Favorite team besides the Ducks? Represent.
Your address
Name of your house
Feeling patriotic? ‘Merica.
There are endless ways to paint your table, but if you’re having a hard time thinking of an idea, just brainstorm with your friends and you’ll come up with something awesome in no time.
