The Ducks were led by sophomore guard Ariel Thomas, who had 16 points on 6-of-15 shooting to go along with four rebounds. Freshman guard Jordan Loera hit four three-pointers and scored 14 points. Oregon played its seventh-straight game without Amanda Johnson — the Ducks are just 2-5 during that stretch.
Though Oregon put up 67 points, the Ducks had only four assists on 22 field goals and committed 18 turnovers. The team shot 39.3 percent but finished with only 26 total rebounds. Oregon is now 14-15 all-time in Berkeley.
Cal hit on 40.0 percent (32-of-80) of their field goals and knocked down seven first-half three-pointers. Cal amounted a 15-2 lead as Oregon was held without a point for four minutes and 22 seconds (18:44-14:22) in the first half.
The Bears led by nine, 18-9, with 12:57 remaining in the first half, and then went on 19-6 run to take a 22-point, 37-15, advantage with 8:02 on the clock. Sophomore guard Deanna Weaver led the Ducks with 10 first-half points as Oregon shot 42.9 percent (12-28) from the floor but turned the ball over nine times.
The Bears had five players score in double figures. Freshman forward Reshanda Gray, a 2011 McDonald’s All-American, went 3-for-3 from the field and 5-of-6 from the line, scoring 11 points in 17 minutes. Fellow first-year guard Brittany Boyd had 11 points, four rebounds and six assists. @@http://www.calbears.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/gray_reshanda00.html@@
The Bear’s 54 points are the most the Ducks have allowed an opponent to score in the first half and also the second most an opponent has scored in a half this year. Oregon had not allowed Cal to score 90 points since a 90-74 Bears’ win on March 13, 1993, in Berkeley. The Ducks remain winless (0-5) on the road.
