A native of La Mesa, Calif., Reed proved to be a solid addition to Oregon’s rotation this season, compiling a 7-4 record and 2.93 ERA in sixteen total starts. His steadiness extended to postseason play, too, as he threw seven shutout innings and struck out eight in a win over Austin Peay en route to being named a Eugene All-Regional performer. @@http://www.pac-12.org/portals/7/images/baseball/stats/2011-12/HTML/ore.htm@@@@http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPID=11401&DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=205436046@@
Reed was Oregon’s Saturday starter throughout the season, and he set a new Oregon rookie record with 107 and 1/3 innings pitched while also striking out 61 batters and allowing a .232 opponent batting average. His 14 quality starts, meanwhile, led the whole team.
The freshman’s next appearance is set for Sunday as Oregon faces off with Kent State in a Super Regional matchup in Eugene.
