Yesterday wrapped up with three of the fastest finishes with LaShawn Merritt and Sanya Richards-Ross leading the men’s and women’s 400-meter dash teams, and Justlin Gatlin returning to the Olympics in the 100-meter dash after a 4 year ban from competition. Former Oregon Duck Melissa Gergel stayed with the competition in the women’s pole vault but did not qualify, that team will be led by Jennifer Suhr. Reese Hoffa will lead the men’s shot put team, Marquis Goodwin continued to impress by jumping his way to London, and Stephanie Brown Trafton will lead the U.S. in women’s discus. For a complete summary of yesterday’s events check out Issac Rosenthal’s recap of the day. Here are a few selects from our photographers.
