On New Years Eve, the Ducks will have the rare opportunity of matching up against one of the most successful programs in women’s basketball in the UConn Huskies.
The Huskies currently hold the No. 1 ranking and boast an impressive 11-0 record after defeating the now former No. 1 Stanford Cardinals last Saturday. With legendary head coach Geno Auriemma in search for yet another NCAA title, the Ducks will without a doubt have their plate full as they get set to play their toughest opponent of the year.@@http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/team/_/id/264/washington-huskies@@
The Ducks are coming off a loss to the Portland Pilots and now currently hold a 2-9 record heading into this game. Luckily for the Ducks, star athlete Liz Brenner will suit up for the first time this season and will look to contribute in any way she can. With such a high task and hand this afternoon, the Ducks will be looking to improve and grow as a team as they face off against one of the best teams in the country. This is the first matchup between the two teams and it should be a fun way to kick start your New Year.@@http://espn.go.com/womens-college-basketball/team/_/id/2483/oregon-ducks@@
