Freshman Kendra Little fired a final-round 71 Tuesday at the University of Oregon Invitational to finish at three-under par and capture the individual title while helping the Oregon women to the team title in the event, held March 24-25 at the Eugene Country Club.
The victories represented a pair of firsts for the program, as the individual title was the first of Little’s college career and the team title was the first for the Oregon women in 14 years of hosting the event.
“The Eugene Country Club is one of the finest courses anywhere, so we’re thankful to be able host the event here,” coach Shannon Rouillard said in an Oregon release. “We’ve made it a priority to play here often the last two months so that helped raise our comfort level.”
Little, a graduate of Sheldon High School, has been the Ducks’ highest finisher in five of their eight tournaments this season, and has been at par or better in eight of her 24 collegiate rounds.
Junior Cathryn Bristow, winner of the individual title two weeks earlier at the UNLV Spring Invitational, tied for sixth place for her fourth top-10 finish of the season.
The women return to action today at the Sacramento State Invitational in Lincoln, Calif., the same site that will host the NCAA West Regional, Thursday-Saturday, May 8-10.
