Eugene police arrested a man Friday afternoon in connection with a tire-slashing spree around East 12th Avenue and Mill Street.
At around 12:30 p.m., someone called EPD and reported a man behaving erratically and slashing tires near White Bird Clinic at 341 E. 12th Ave. with a knife. The man rode away on a bike while the caller was reporting him.
EPD investigators found eight cars with slashed tires in the area, but more cars may have been damaged.
Later in the afternoon, EPD officers arrested Zachary David Eads, 32, on an unrelated charge. Witnesses identified Eads as the man who had slashed the tires. He was released later in the day, but he was later arrested and returned to Lane County Jail on charges of first degree criminal mischief.
