Costner is coming with his band, Modern West, as part of a fundraiser to help raise funs for construction of Oregon’s new baseball park. Oregon begins play next February and are running a $20 million fundraising campaign to cover costs for the new field and operating expenses.
The two shows will be held at the Hult Center on May 30 and May 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets will become available starting Thursday at 12 p.m. via the Hult Center box office, Hult Center ticket outlets and the Web site www.hultcenter.org. Ticket prices are $25 for students and seniors, and $60 and $70 for premier seats.
Along with the band’s performances, there will be video clips from Costner’s past movie roles. Costner has done a variety of baseball films during his career, including “Bull Durham,” “Field of Dreams” and “For the Love of the Game.”
Costner has enjoyed a lengthy friendship with Horton going back to the coach’s time at Cal State Fullerton. Costner threw out the first pitch at Fullerton’s new ballpark.
