When I went up to the Obama table today on 13th Avenue and University Street, I noticed that the table had nothing hanging in front of it. Since this table is regarding the support for a potential leader of our great country, I figured that the table could have something to represent it, the American flag. I offered it to them and was immediately questioned, “Well do you have a flag on your car or in your home?” and I proudly replied, “Why yes I do!” Unfortunately, I was accused of being “insecure” about my patriotism. Now, have we forgotten who we are? Have the values of each political party gotten to the best of us? Democrats or Republicans, liberals or conservatives, we are all Americans who enjoy the freedoms and liberties that our forefathers have shed blood for. Despite the different approaches, we all have the same goals, whether it’d be peace, a strong economy, or health care for everyone. I’ve seen people blame Republicans for America’s problems (as I have been the victim many times), as well as blaming the Democrats. If we keep pointing fingers at each other, we’re never going to come closer to a near perfect society as America falls apart like this. I hope that someday, everyone can put their differences aside and come to an understanding of each other so we can be united and an even stronger country. God bless America!!
