Since 1904, University students, faculty and staff have planted flowers, spread bark dust, collected trash and worked to beautify the campus as a way to give back to the University.
More than a century into the tradition, today marks the 104th annual University Day. In addition to service, this year’s event, with a theme of “block party,” is also about celebrating.
“In addition to over a thousand volunteers, University Day will sponsor a student group fair to further promote student involvement on campus,” University Day committee member Kate Wallace wrote in a press release. “There will also be live entertainment and activities to celebrate our diverse community.”
University Day will take place throughout campus all day. Volunteer check-in is at the Collier Lawn, located at the corner of University Street and East 13th Avenue, from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
