A small exhibit of extraordinary art is now on view at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art.
The five paintings come from a few of the most renowned French Impressionist and Post Impressionist artists in the world, including Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Cézanne, Camille Pissarro, Paul Signac and Henri Martin.
All painted during the late 19th century, the works evoke imagery from France.
Renoir’s “Vase de Fleurs” demonstrates the beauty of flowers, with rich shades of pink, green and yellow. Though Cézanne’s work is considered to be some of the most influential contributions to Post-Impressionism, the painting on view, “Maison dans la verdure,” while beautiful, does not do his creative aethestic justice.
The most visually striking, “Le Port de Collioure,” painted by Martin, depicts a typical French sea port with bright colors and a Parisian flair.
The exhibit, located in the European Gallery, runs until June 8. Admission is free for students and faculty who present their University ID card.
