At least one person was admitted to McKenzie-Willamette Hospital in Springfield on Thursday after a suspicious package was received at the University, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
At about 9 a.m. Thursday, a physics professor and his assistant opened an envelope in the professor’s office in Willamette Hall. The professor said that the envelope — which was postmarked from Malaysia — was addressed to him and contained a letter and an unknown substance that he described as “granular” in texture.
The letter had writing both in English and a language that the professor didn’t recognize — although he said that it was not Arabic.
