The Lady Ducks golf team moved ahead of Brigham Young University to finish in eighth-place, behind a pair of top 20 finishes at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational.
Kim McCready finalized her fourth top-20 finish in as many years by shooting even-par for her final round.
McCready knocked in two birdies on par-5s en route to a tie for 12th. Her play also created the separation between Oregon and Brigham Young, which trailed the Ducks by four shots at day’s end.
Cathryn Bristow, who was ahead of McCready on the leaderboard after the second round, finished her final round tied for 17th.
That was the second top 20 finish for the sophomore who has only competed in a handful of matches.
Bristow knocked in a par-5 birdie on the sixth hole, but followed that up with a double bogey on seven.
Therese Wenslow bounced back after two double-digit rounds in the black with an 8-over par final round. The senior finished the tournament toward the bottom of the leaderboard.
Wenslow’s best finish at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational was last season when she tied for 30th. She finished in a tie for 65th Wednesday.
Felicia Eastick and Kate Hildahl ended the tournament differently than they began. Eastick finished 8-over par in the third round, while her freshman counterpart shot a final round 12-over.
Hildahl shot a solid 6-over in the first round, but progressively added strokes in each subsequent round.
Eastick ended tied for 36th, while Hildahl dropped 12 spots for a tie at 51st.
Oregon moved up the leaderboard after shooting a final round 20-over par. The Ducks gradually improved each round of the invite, but still finished four strokes behind Washington.
Oregon State finished dead last at 102 over par, a whopping 70 shots behind the leaders.
Stanford took home the team title after taking the lead in the second round.
The University of New Mexico finished two shots ahead of day-one leader Arizona State, at 38 over par.
Individually, Stanford’s Mari Chun earned medalist honors by leading the tournament in all three rounds. Chun started off her third round with two consecutive birdies, but struggled the rest of her round with a 3 over par day, including a double bogey on 17, which narrowed the gap.
New Mexico’s Jodi Ewart held off Arizona State’s Jennifer Osborn, to earn her second-place finish.
The Sun Devil’s Osborn started her round Wednesday tied for 10th, but posted the best round of the day and scored a 4-under-par 68 to round out the top three.
The Ducks do not play again until the Stanford Pepsi Invitational, on Oct 20-22.
