In a hurry to wash your duds? Try these laundry tips to save time and simplify your clothes-cleaning ordeal:
– Speed is the key. All these tips work best before the stain has set, so make haste.
– To remove stubborn grass stains, try these steps: Sponge the stain with water, then with rubbing alcohol and let dry. Sponge with cool water again, rub detergent into the area and rinse it. If that doesn’t work, soak the fabric in solution of 1 quart warm water and 1 tablespoon stain-remover for 30 to 60 minutes. Rinse and re-wash in hot water. – eHow.com
– Late for a job interview? Remove some wrinkles at the last minute by steaming your clothes while in the shower. Leave the bathroom fan off and hang clothes on the outside of the shower curtain.
– Another tip for removing wrinkles: Spray washed and dried clothes lightly with cool water and put them in the dryer on a low setting for about 10 minutes. Or, try soaking a towel and putting it in the dryer with the wrinkled clothes.
– Iron less by using a spray-on starch when ironing. It’s available at most grocery stores.
– Skip sorting socks by using Sock Locks – plastic rings that hold pairs together through the laundry process. Go to www.sock-locks.com.
– Check your local Laundromat for a centrifugal extractor, a machine that spins clothes at high speeds, causing water to fly off and reducing the amount time clothes need in the dryer.
