I am angry and outraged that since the legalization of abortion over 30 years ago, some self-righteous people took it upon themselves to remove parents’ or guardians’ authority over their daughters’ abortions.
I have talked to more than 100 parents and not one of them knew that a school counselor, or someone from an abortion agency, could help their daughters get an abortion without letting the parents know about it. Not even a cough drop can be given to a minor without having his or her parent sign for permission. So why on earth would it be legal to perform a major medical procedure on a daughter without letting the parents know?
The big secret from parents was apparently that they don’t care about their daughters as much as someone in government. Give me a break! This whole thing is about money. The abortion business is big business. I don’t care if some agencies call themselves non-profit. They are making a lot of money from those girls coming to get abortions and having them paid for by our tax dollars.
From my childhood, I was taught that if someone is doing something secretly with me and I don’t have to tell my parents and “we’ll just keep a little secret between us,” they’re called predators. It’s time to call this secrecy what it really is. People who want to keep secrets from parents are predators.
It’s time to give parents back their right to know. Please vote yes on 43 for parent notification.
