On July 10, 2006, University Housing received notification from Environmental Health and Safety that the practice of sanitizing potatoes in a washer designed for pots and pans was in violation of the health code, thus we immediately ceased that practice and have returned to using the method recommended by the Oregon Food Code.
The staff of University Housing Dining Services takes great pride in our commitment to food safety. Our staff makes every effort to operate within the guidelines of the Food Code and follows the direction of Environmental Health and Safety regarding our practices. We welcome regular inspection of our facilities and our practices to ensure we are following the safest food handling practices available and will continue to act quickly to make any necessary changes.
Overall, the Dining Services staff in University Housing strives to provide high quality food and service, which is noted in our excellent satisfaction ratings. Staff members take great pride in providing healthy meals, tasty snacks, and a wide variety of options drawing from international recipes. This information regarding our recent change in practices is being provided so that our diners can continue to have the greatest confidence in our methods and in their dining experience.
