With the reconstruction of Hilyard Street being Eugene Public Works’ biggest project this summer, the department also plans to tear up areas of four more streets in the campus area, a spokesman said Wednesday.
Beginning around August 1, workers will grind off the top layer of pavement on Patterson Street between East 13th and 18th Avenue, leaving one lane open for the entirety of the construction, EPW spokesman Eric Jones said.
Scheduled to begin Saturday, reconstruction on Washington Street will close the intersection of Washington and West 8th Avenue all day this Saturday and the following Saturday.
Construction will limit Garfield Street to one lane between West 11th and 13th Avenue and will close the intersection at Garfield and West 12th Avenue on two consecutive Saturdays, July 22 and July 29, a press release states.
Workers will begin paving Seneca Road between West 7th and 11th Avenue on July 24, limiting traffic to one lane, the release states.
The construction will slow traffic, creating difficulties for drivers, but will serve the public by creating safer, more durable streets, Jones said.
