Despite starting alongside 6-foot-7-inch junior wide receiver Evan Moore, Stanford’s 6-foot-2-inch wide receiver Mark Bradford has become the Cardinal’s biggest and most reliable target. The senior has started 28 of Stanford’s 33 games since his freshman season in 2003 and has a chance this year to move into the school’s all-time top 10 list in every statistical receiving category.
Bradford, who also played a stint on the men’s basketball team in 2003, wasted no time declaring his arrival on The Farm. He became the most prolific freshman receiver in school history by catching 37 passes for 587 yards and three touchdowns. He followed that up with 34 catches for 482 yards and one score in his sophomore season and 37 catches for 609 yards and six touchdowns last season. He managed a career-high nine receptions and 185 yards against Arizona State last season.
Now with a senior quarterback and an experienced offensive line, Bradford is hoping to conclude his career in style.
A good place to start is Saturday against the Ducks, a team he’s had particular success against. The Los Angeles native caught seven passes for 110 yards and one touchdown in a losing effort last season and hauled in seven receptions for 153 yards as a freshman in 2003. In his career, he has 19 catches for 312 yards and one touchdown versus Oregon. Not surprisingly, Bradford lists Autzen Stadium as his favorite venue to play in on Stanford’s web site.
