Yhe dean of the University’s School of Architecture and Allied Arts, Francis Bronet, will speak to summer graduates, along with their families and friends during the 2006 summer commencement at 10 a.m. Saturday. The ceremony will be held at the Memorial Quadrangle on the west edge of campus.
Bronet became the School of Architecture’s dean in August 2005 after serving as the principal designer at her own architecture firm. She attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Albany, N.Y. and was named professor of the year in the state of New York by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.
More than 1,200 students have earned their degrees and are eligible to be recognized during the morning’s festivities.
In the event of rain, preparations have been made to move the ceremony inside to McArthur Court. Students receiving their degrees will then be assembled on the covered tennis court behind the Student Recreation Center.
It is a public event and tickets are not required. For more information, visit the University’s Web site or call (541) 346-1160.
