The University’s Students for Choice will host a screening of “The Abortion Diaries,” directed by 27-year-old New York filmmaker Penny Lane, today at 6 p.m. in 112 Esslinger.
The event will commemorate the 33rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the controversial, landmark Supreme Court decision that gave woman to right to choose to have an abortion.
“It is important for those who believe in this right to make themselves heard,” said Lynn Paige Moracco, SFC co-director.
“The Abortion Diaries” tells the stories of 12 women, along with Lane’s own diary entries. The audience hears what women say behind closed doors about sex, love, careers, motherhood, medical technology, spirituality and their bodies.
An open discussion will follow the the 30-minute film.
