This election, students have a choice between leaders who listen to and respect the concerns of UO students and those who do not. A choice between leaders who promote personal agendas and leaders who promote your agenda.
The ASUO can be a powerful voice for you when led by an Executive with a vision to make life better for students. In the last year, ASUO has registered record numbers of students to vote, created an electronic system to distribute athletic tickets and lobbied to successfully fully fund Oregon’s only need-based aid program.
But the ASUO’s strength lies in its Executive’s ability to listen to student concerns and take action. We need leaders who understand this, and that’s why I’m supporting Emily McLain and San SunOwen in this election. When students from across campus expressed concern about the rising costs of tuition, Emily and San organized student lobbying efforts in Salem to increase funding for higher education.
The ASUO can be a strong advocate for student interests, but only when led by students with a vision and a commitment to listening to the needs of this campus. Emily and San are those leaders.
