Senior transfer Brooke Dieringer, junior Jen May and sophomore Alicia Burkhart were named to the Midwest/West All-Region Second Team, the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association announced Thursday. The IWLCA honored 128 student-athletes.
Dieringer, who transferred from North Carolina, scored 32 goals and 42 points for the Ducks, good for second on the team in both categories.
May, the co-captain, recorded 39 points this year, including 22 goals and 17 assists. The junior midfielder possesses a school-record 134 career points.
While playing more minutes than any other Duck, Burkhart paced the squad in ground balls collected (48) and was second in caused turnovers (23). In 970 minutes on the field, she also collected 38 draw controls, which was second best on the team.
Oregon earned its best record in school history by finishing 12-7 and taking second place in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation this season.
All 128 athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams, which will be announced on May 29.-Dan Jones
