With a five-game sweep at the Aztec Invitational this weekend in San Diego and a victory last Thursday against the University of San Diego, the No. 25 Oregon softball team (15-1) broke a school record with 15 consecutive games, breaking the previous mark of 14 straight set in 2004.
The Ducks defeated San Diego 7-4 on Thursday, then promptly defeated Siena College 13-0 and Long Beach State 7-1 on Friday. The Ducks then beat North Dakota State 6-1 Saturday and followed that with a 3-2 win against San Diego State.
Oregon wrapped up the Invitational with another victory against San Diego, this time 6-0.
Junior pitcher Alicia Cook improved her record to 9-1 on the season and sophomore Melissa Rice improved to 6-0.
After the very impressive start, the Ducks likely face their biggest challenge this Thursday against No. 18 Georgia at the Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Bulldogs are Oregon’s first ranked opponent.
The Ducks also take on Hawaii Thursday and St. Mary’s and Kent State on Friday. The tournament runs until Sunday.
