Anyone who wants to see the premiere of “The Simpsons Movie” come to Springfield, Ore. now has a chance to make it happen.
Until July 9, USA Today is taking votes on its Web site for which of 14 Springfields across the country deserves the honor of hosting the movie premiere.
At thesimpsons.usatoday.com, people can view videos made by each competing city, vote on which city they think should win, and leave comments to encourage others to vote one way or another.
There’s no way to tell who’s in the lead, but the winner of the most votes will be announced July 10, the day after voting closes.
If Oregon is the winner, the premiere would be hosted July 26 at Cinemark 17 in the Gateway Mall, and about 500 people would be able to attend, with free popcorn and soda.
To vote, go to thesimpsons.usatoday.com or for more info on Springfield and the contest, go to myspace.com/springfieldoregon.
