Oregon (8-15) prepares for its home-opening game Wednesday at Howe Field after losing all three of its games over the weekend in Reno, Nev.
Southern Utah beat the Ducks 2-1 and 10-5 on Friday and Saturday before Oregon lost to host Nevada in its second game Saturday 8-7 in 8 innings.
Oregon junior Carlyn Re hit her first career home run that stood as the Ducks’ lone run on Friday, but allowed the winning runs to score in the fourth inning.
On Saturday morning, Oregon’s three runs in the second inning couldn’t withstand SUU’s eight runs in its first four innings. Senior pitcher Melissa Rice got the loss for UO, dropping her record to 0-4.
The Ducks struck first against Nevada with four runs in the fourth inning on back-to-back home runs by freshman sisters Kelsey and Lindsey Chambers. Nevada, the defending Western Athletic Conference champions, responded with four runs in the sixth and two runs apiece in the seven and eighth innings for the win.
