Briefly explain your platform.
OAT; Student involvement is a big issue, we want to get more funding to keep the library open for 24 hours, work with public transportation to ensure transportation for students to places like the apartments, and get more student football tickets. I think it’s important students know where their money is going and why it’s going there. And I think we need to have a better understanding as a student body of all of the money that’s going into each program, to increase student awareness of the issues there.
What qualities and experience qualify you to be an ASUO senator?
Basically, I’m a business minor, so I’m doing a lot of finances and I have a lot of interest in the University both from a student perspective and the University as an administration. For me, doing things like the DFC, I’m really interested in the financial workings of the University institution and I think more students need to be getting involved in the budget process. And I’m interested in getting involved myself.
What are your thoughts on the purpose and size of the student incidental fee?
I think it’s grown to be a little overwhelming for many students, because of the economy right now and the overall cost of the incidental fee itself has become a burden for many students and needs to be controlled a little bit.
How should the DFC deal with Campus Recycling’s budget next year?
Basically, I’m in support of the Campus Recycling program, and I know it was at issue because of funding. But I want to work to try to keep it.
In light of the cuts to the University administration’s budget, should the Career Center reconsider its decision to wean itself off the incidental fee?
It’s a tough issue, but I think most universities it’s on the administration fee. So I think we should continue trying to wean it towards the administration fee because the incidental fee is just too large right now.
