Briefly explain your platform.
Greater outreach to journalism students. Being a good and positive influence within Senate and being fair with how funds are allocated across programs.
What qualities and experience qualify you to be an ASUO senator?
I’m currently serving in Senate Seat 19. I’ve had pretty good communication with the journalism school. I’m working with the administration to get things for journalism students such as internships and better equipment.
What are your thoughts on the purpose and size of the student incidental fee?
I think that the incidental fee is high. I don’t disagree with the size; I disagree with how it is used. I think that $195 has the potential to do a lot for the student body.
How will you ensure that you are representing your constituents’ interests?
Naturally, I’m an incredibly extroverted person. I’m trying to make myself as available as possible for journalism students to come and talk to about what they need.
What are some major issues facing journalism students and how would you address them?
Contemporarily, we’re in a pretty horrible economy. We need to be more competitive applicants in trying to acquire jobs after our undergrad. And I think that greater student involvement within (student) programs is a way to build your resume, to build your professional experience, to build yourself as a writer and is incredibly important.
