Senior Cathryn Bristow and sophomore Kendra Little were honored as All-Pac-10 selections for the second straight year after their top-12 finishes at the 2009 Pacific-10 Conference Championship tournament this past weekend.
Little, who finished in 12th-place overall on Sunday, was named to the All-Pac-10 second team for the second time in her young career. Bristow was rewarded for the third time in her career – honorable mention 2005-06 and second team in 2008 – as an honorable mention selection to cap off her Pac-10 campaign.
Bristow joined former Duck Paula Patterson as the only Oregon players to receive All-Pac-10 honors three times.
Pac-10 tournament champion Arizona State placed five golfers on the All-Pac-10 teams including three first-teamers in Carlotta Ciganda, Azahara Munoz, and Juliana Murcia. USC’s Lizette Salas and Jennifer Song; UCLA’s Stephanie Kono and Glory Yang; and, California’s Pia Halbig rounded out the first team selections.
Yesterday afternoon, the No. 36 Ducks received the 14th postseason bid in school history with an invitation to the NCAA West Regional, which will begin on Thursday, May 7, at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
Oregon placed 13th at last year’s Regional tournament and will look to improve upon that this season. Little and Bristow both participated last spring, along with juniors Felicia Eastick and Kate Hildahl and sophomore Erica Omlid. With the addition of freshman standout Ashley Edwards, the Ducks will look to make their first NCAA team appearance since 2000.
