The University men’s golf team had more strong play from the freshman class as the Ducks earned a ninth-place finish at the Arizona State University Thunderbird Invitational this weekend.
Freshman Daniel Miernicki had a particularly strong tournament, as he shot a 3-under 68 on Saturday to finish the tournament in a tie for third-place overall at 2-under 211.
Oregon concluded the tournament in ninth place out of the 16-team field, while host ASU won the event with a team score of 838.
Freshmen Eugene Wong, Robbie Ziegler and Andrew Vijarro rounded out the Ducks’ top-four finishers, while sophomore Isaiah Telles was the fifth and final scorer.
The Ducks will have this week off from competition before traveling to Stanford for the U.S. Intercollegiate on Saturday, April 18.
