As the Oregon men took on their UCLA counterparts at Hayward Field, the Oregon women continued to sprint their way into the record books Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. Mandy White, Amber Purvis, Keshia Baker and Jamesha Youngblood won the 4x100m relay over UNLV in 44.61, breaking their own record from last month’s Stanford Invitational by .03 seconds.
The Ducks’ pole vaulters also posted career marks. Jordan Roskelley moved up to seventh all-time with a 12-foot, 11.5-inch clearance, a three-inch personal best. Melissa Gergel posted a season-best of 13 feet, 7.25 inches to finish fifth.
Junior Zoe Buckman finished seventh (third among collegians) at the 1,500m in a personal-best time of 4:17.22. The Canberra, Australia native’s time is the seventh-fastest in Oregon history. Buckman also became the second Duck in the last 20 years to run under 4:18.00 in the 1,500m, joining teammate Nicole Blood, who posted an NCAA regional qualifying mark after finishing 11th (4:18.83).
Purvis and Baker also recorded a 1-2 finish in a heat of the 200m; Purvis won in 23.69, and Baker’s time of 23.84 is a regional qualifying mark.
