Sacramento State women’s basketball head coach and former Oregon assistant Dan Muscatell has been hired as assistant coach, filling the third and final vacancy on head coach Paul Westhead’s staff.
Muscatell was a part of the Oregon staff from 1999 to 2003 when the Ducks made NCAA tournament appearances in 2000 (under Jody Runge) and 2001 (under Bev Smith) and won the 2002 WNIT Championship.
In his six seasons as Hornets head coach, Muscatell, whose staff at Sacramento State included former Oregon players Jamie Craighead and Andrea Bills, won 36 games, compared to six in the three seasons before he arrived. His 2008-09 squad went 9-21 overall and 7-9 in the Big Sky Conference, the Hornets’ best-ever conference mark since joining the Big Sky in 1996-97.
