The Oregon women’s tennis team will take on two of the strongest Pacific-10 Conference teams this weekend, as a part of its three-day road trip. The Ducks will match up with Cal Poly today, followed by No. 7 Stanford tomorrow and No. 3 California on Saturday.
The Ducks enter the road trip with a 9-9 overall record, and are currently riding a two-game winning streak after last weekend’s wins over San Diego and Portland State.
Seniors Carmen Seremeta, Ana Cecilia Olivos and Claudia Hirt will look to keep their strong play going, as they each picked up a win in singles play against PSU last Saturday. Freshmen Trudie du Toit and Madelie Janse van Rensburg will also need to continue their impressive play in order for the Ducks to stay with their highly-ranked opponents.
Not to be forgotten is the sophomore foursome of Siobhan Cavan, Stephanie Macfarlane, Pavlina Smatova and Mimi Songsermsawas, who will each play a key roll in helping Oregon throughout the next three days.
Oregon will have to handle Stanford sophomore Hilary Barte, who defeated three nationally ranked opponents last week, earning her Pac-10 Player of the Week honors. Barte and her junior doubles partner Lindsay Burdette are ranked No. 11 in the nation. Cal’s No. 6-ranked doubles duo of freshman Jana Juricova and sophomore Mari Andersson pose another tough matchup for the Ducks.
Oregon begins play today at 11 a.m.
