Following Wednesday’s robbery of a 19-year-old University student at East 14th Avenue and Kincaid Street, a woman was kidnapped and robbed Sunday night by two men in a similar incident.
The Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit is now asking the public to be especially vigilant, according to a Eugene Police Department press release.
In the latest incident, a 30-year-old woman was sitting in her car at the West 11th Avenue Fred Meyer parking lot just after 7 p.m. when two men unexpectedly got in, according to the police report.
They threatened to use a weapon on her and forced her to drive them to the U.S. Bank ATM at 1717 W. 7th Ave. They attempted to withdraw money there with her bank card.
From there, the men forced her to drive to I-105 and West 7th Avenue, where they got out of the car and commanded her to keep driving onto the freeway.
The suspects are described as between the ages of 25 and 30. One suspect was described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slender build, wearing a light-colored, pin-striped fedora, a white long-sleeved button-down shirt, blue jeans and sunglasses.
The other suspect was described as a black male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a muscular build, wearing a baseball hat, black shirt and sunglasses.
Given the similarity of the recent incidents, police advise the public to be cautious and on alert, to lock car doors after entering vehicles, to have keys ready when approaching vehicles and to park only in well-lit areas.
Police ask that anyone with information regarding the robbery to call the EPD tip line at 682-8888.
