Three suspected cases of swine flu have emerged in Lane County, including an elementary school-aged child who attends the University’s Moss Street Children’s Center.
Officials said the University and the Moss Street center will remain open and fully operational, as will the Vivian Olum Child Development Center and the Co-op Family Center at Spencer View apartments.
The child with the suspected case has not attended the children’s center for the past four days. A seperate report identifies a student at Harris Eastside Elementary who also has a suspected case of the flu, but it remains unclear whether he or she is the same child who attends the children’s center.
The Oregon state director of public health said there are now five probable cases of swine flu in the state, and one in Lane County.
The University said updates will be available at the UO Emergency Management Web site, em.uoregon.edu, as the situation develops.
