It is safe to say that the outcome of this week’s suspicious package scare at Lawrence Hall was a good one. Despite the building’s partial evacuation and the involvement of the Department of Homeland Security, the package that was found in a bathroom in the architecture building turned out to be totally harmless.
But what was odd about the whole incident, as inconsequential as it might have been, was the Department of Public Safety’s intentional decision not to activate the emergency text message alert system
